OH, THE BATTLE OF FEAR…YET I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE

Fear is the reason….

  • We stay in our comfort zone even though it’s uncomfortable
  • We exist but have yet to live
  • We disqualify ourselves
  • We worry
  • We live in the world of “what ifs”
  • We quit before we even start

According to Google, fear is defined as “An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.”  After reading that definition, I immediately became stumped…

“Why is fulfilling my purpose causing me so much fear?”

My purpose isn’t dangerous, harmful, or a threat to others. Yours isn’t either.  I see my purpose as uplifting, powerful, graceful, courageous, inspiring, and most importantly, life changing.

Recognizing and chasing my purpose has been an ongoing battle in my adult life.  I’m what you would call a “Class A” runner when it comes to my purpose.  I think about it daily and the lives it would impact. However, fear has me stagnant, disqualifying myself, and stuck in a frustrated “comfort zone” which isn’t very comfortable at all.  I look at other people and see their great works, knowing exactly what I’m capable of and that God is with me…yet I’m frozen.  But not anymore, today is a new day and a new season in my life!

During Lent season, many people gave up bad habits but will soon pick them back up.  For me, I gave up fear and definitely won’t be picking it back up.  Instead, I’m replacing it with FAITH!  The kind of faith to believe what God says about me, “I AM FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY MADE!”  When He says this He’s saying:

  • I am His distinguished and amazing creation
  • I am made in His image
  • I am full of purpose and it will be fulfilled
  • I am set apart and unique
  • I am the best of the best
  • I am marvelous
  • I am loved
  • I am of great worth

When I soak in all of those statements, it puts a smile on my face to think about God smiling as He created me.  Every imperfection that I think disqualifies me and keeps me stuck really doesn’t. What does is the fear I hold on to.  I know this journey of living a fearless life won’t be an easy one, but I’m up for the challenge.  I’m truly going to run after my purpose and it will be fulfilled. Lives will be changed because I know God is with me.

Now I want you to take a moment, close your eyes, and visualize God smiling in the process of uniquely making you.  View yourself as God views you and embrace what He says about you.  I simply want to challenge you to join me on this journey to discover and live in your purpose.  It’s never too late to start stretching your faith and take that first step, no matter what it is!  No longer let fear, your thoughts, or insecurities hold you captive and keep you from fulfilling your purpose because…

YOU ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE
